Trips Are Not Generated When Generate Field Service Trips End Date Is On A Calendar Exception

Symptoms
On : 12.2.X
The Generate Field Service Trip concurrent program is not creating trips if the end date falls on the same date as a calendar exception.
The program fails to generate all trips and reported the following messages in the log file
ERROR
-----------------------
Processed resource <resource name> (Employee Resource, XXXXXXX).
Failed to retrieve the shifts for the resource between 12-DEC-2017 00:00 and 01-JAN-2018 23:59. Calendar <Calendar name> does not have any shifts assigned.
Failed to delete the Trip of the resource between 12-DEC-2017 09:00 and 12-DEC-2017 18:00 as there are tasks linked to the trip and no shift definition exists overlapping with the trip timings.
No New Shifts found for the resource between 12-DEC-2017 00:00 and 01-JAN-2018 23:59.Deleting the old trip.
STEPS

The issue can be reproduced at will with the following steps:
1. Create a calendar:
Navigation: CRM Administration responsibility
Calendar > Calendar Setup > Define Calendar
2. Create a calendar exception
Calendar > Calendar Setup > Define exceptions
e.g Create an exception for 01-JAN-2018
3. Run Generate Field Service Trips concurrent program with end date that falls on as start date on 01-JAN-2018.
