Using ASCP and OPM, ASCP is planning for a batch to last 28 days. There is a resource in the routing, however, that is set to Do Not Plan, and when a batch is created, this resource takes longer than 28 days. The purpose of the resource is for costing, and it is costed on the basis of the number of pounds being fabricated. This resource should not impact lead times since it is not a bottleneck and can process any quantity, not dependent on time.

The cost of the resource is $5 per LB. When it processes 3000 LB it costs 3000 x 5 = $15,000. This resource in the operation is set up to process 3000 LB in 3000 HR. When a batch is created for 3000 LB, this resource in the batch is running for 3000 HR, which is much longer than 28 days.

How do we avoid this resource causing the batch to last longer than 28 days, that is, to make the batch last the same time as the time that ASCP plans?
