Sales Order Line - Updating Ordered Quantity Doesn't Trigger Rescheduling

When order quantity is updated on a scheduled line, sometimes rescheduling doesn't occur automatically.
Steps to reproduce:
1. On sales order line: enter item number, enter ordered quantity that excess available quantity.
2. Go to next line and enter item/quantity there (lines are still un-scheduled).
3. Save both lines (by Ctrl+S) – lines have been scheduled (as Auto-schedule is enabled on Tools menu) and first line got late Schedule Ship Date because of exceeded quantity.
4. Then change the quantity on first line and book order without saving the line – Schedule Ship Date still is the same.
As a result, line is saved with new quantity, but it's not re-scheduled and the order is Booked. If user doesn't notice wrong with the Schedule Ship Date, it's then released to inventory in that way.
This scenario is contradicted by the statement found under <Note 445044.1> - Why does updating ordered quantity trigger reschedule action?
