Not Able To Update DFF Values On The Claims

Not able to update Descriptive Flexfield (DFF) values to null in claims.
Once the claim is in Open status and if the DFF value is null and if you select any value and 'Update' button, the claim will get updated with the value selected.
Then in case you re-query the claim and then if you want to update the DFF value or make it null, you click 'Update' button , then you still get a confirmation message 'Your changes have been saved' but the DFF value will never get updated.
Steps to reproduce
1) Create a DFF at the claim Level
2) Populate a value in the DFF on the claim, click update.
3) Remove/Update the DFF value and click Update.
Result: when we inquire the same claim, the DFF value is not removed/updated.
