Error While Personalizing the Appraisal Page to Include Manager and Employee Comments. (Doc ID 2481175.1)

Symptoms

On: 12.2.4 version, Appraisals

The Customer has a requirement to see comments entered by Employee for individual objectives and a provision where a manager can also enter the comments. The requirement is to have both these fields on the same page instead of any extra navigation.

We have added two fields; Message Style Text and Message Text Input for capturing Employee comments and Manager comments for individual objectives respectively.
These fields are added along with the existing standard provisions to view and enter Employee and Manager comments for individual objectives respectively.

But upon introducing these fields, once the manager selects the rating for objectives and enters the comments; upon clicking on "Apply" button, the system throws the below error messages.

"Attribute PerformanceRatingId in PerformanceRatingEO is required
Attribute ObjectiveId in PerformanceRatingEO is required"

However, if the manager provides the rating for Objectives, click the "Save as Draft", enter manager comments and Apply button; the error is not appearing.

It seems child items are not initialized when the manager appraise for the first time.

STEPS
-----------------------
The issue can be reproduced at will with the following steps:
1. Employee completes the appraisal for Employee Self Service and transfers the appraisal to the manager.
2. Manager Self Service > Talent & Performance Management for my Team > Performance Management for My Team.
3. Select Plan, click GOTO task for Annual Appraisal.
4. Update the Appraisal.
5. Enter the details in the sequence mentioned below
a. Enter manager ratings for each Activity
b. Enter manager comments for each Activity
c. Enter manager ratings for each Competency
d. Select Overall Rating
e. Click the “Apply” button.
6. The error is reported.
