Symptoms

The 1099 Electronic File was submitted to the IRS.

The client gets a FIRE letter from the IRS stating:

ERROR
-------
1 ‘K’ record(s) contains control totals that do not equal the IRS total of the ‘B’ records that have the same Combined Federal/State Code in positions 747-748.
Refer to Publication 1220 or contact your software company or service provider for further information.
101 is the sequence number of your record that is not in ascending numerical sequence. This is the first record where we detected an error in the sequence. The sequence number is located in positions 500-507 of each record. Please review your entire file for this error.
