R12 Task Assignment Dates Differ Between Oracle Projects and MSP (Doc ID 2557572.1)

Last updated on JULY 25, 2019

Applies to:

Oracle Project Planning and Control - Version 12.2.6 and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Symptoms

Issues with resource task assignment dates changing when using Oracle Project Planning and Control and MS Projects

Steps:

1.  Create a Project in Oracle Project Planning and Control
2.  Assign a resource to the project against the TASK with Specific dates.
3.  Export the project using MS project integration to MS projects 2016
4.  Check the TASK dates - they are wrong
5.  Send the data back to Oracle - dates remain unchanged from MSP

In Oracle Projects, Task A

Scheduled Start Date     Scheduled End Date
01-MAY-2019                 31-JUL-2019

Resource Tab
Scheduled Start Date     Scheduled End Date
Resource 1                  01-MAY-2019                 31-MAY-2019
Resource 2                  01-MAY-2019                 30-JUN-2019

Import into MSP:

Task A

Scheduled Start Date     Scheduled End Date
01-MAY-2019                 17-MAY-2019 -- changes but not clear on where we get this date

Now back to Oracle Projects:  no other changes..dates remain unchanged...what they were in MSP:

Task A

Scheduled Start Date     Scheduled End Date
01-MAY-2019                 17-MAY-2019

Resource Usages Tab we now see the following:

Scheduled Start Date     Scheduled End Date
Crompton                  01-MAY-2019                 17-MAY-2019
Hutchison                  01-MAY-2019                 17-MAY-2019

But how are these dates derived?
