Why Cannot One Apply a Promotional Goods Modifier by Defaulting a Return Order Line Type for the "Get Item"? (Doc ID 2559642.1)

Symptoms

When attempting to entering an order line for the "buy item" of a promotion,
the following error occurs.

ERROR
Validation failed for the field - Line Type


STEPS
The issue can be reproduced at will with the following steps:
1. Have a Pricing Modifier – Promotion setup as if one buys an item [ITEM A] Item a [ITEM B] item gets free.
2. So as soon as the ITEM A is added on a line and saved, will see the ITEM B gets added to a new line using the standard line type.
3. Test again, but this time, using defaulting rule which is then changing the line type to RETURN line type, when new line is created by the modifier for ITEM B.
     Error is shown: Validation failed for the field - Line Type
