Abnormal Discount Calculation Through Modifiers (Doc ID 2572010.1)

Symptoms

On : 12.1.3 version, Modifiers Setup only

ACTUAL BEHAVIOR
Automatic discount modifiers are being used along with limit balances for a very long time and in parallel, following issue is being faced very rarely.



STEPS
The issue can be reproduced at will with the following steps:

1. Create An Automatic Promotional Limit Modifier with When Exceeded attribute set as "Hard - Adjust Benefit Amount" following navigation:

a. Login to Oracle Applications
b. Go to Oracle Pricing Manager Responsibility
c. Navigate to MENUPATH > Modifiers > Define Modifier

2. Create the Sales Order from Order Management Super User Responsibility > Orders, Returns > Sales Order

3. Enter those many Quantities which should cross the Discount Limit

4. Save the Changes. Below message appears

"A Promotion Limit violation occurred while pricing. Please use Process Messages to view details of the violation."

5. Check the Discount, It is 15000

6. Decrease the quantity and tab out. See that Discount value is increased.

7. Save the Changes. Above message appears again i.e.

"A Promotion Limit violation occurred while pricing. Please use Process Messages to view details of the violation."

8. Observe that Discount value again gets changed and comes down.

9. Keep on doing the quantity change and finally below error occurs:

"Error(s) occurred in Oracle Pricing: Update Failed in
procedure Update_Balance because Limit Balance no longer
available"

10. System will not allow to do anything than closing the form.

11. Close the Sales Order form and re-open it.

12. Increase the quantity and find that It crosses the limit and it goes in negative.
