When attempting to create an impairment to a negative-cost asset, the following message may occur.

To Post, Impairment Status must be Previewed and the Impairment amount less than Asset's Net Book Value.

This message is not the most informative for the scenario, but is correct in not allowing the impairment. If this error does not appear in entering the impairment, it should still fail in Process Impairments with the following:

Impairment cannot be charged for asset 123456 as the NBV after considering current month depreciation is either zero or less than impairment loss.
