When trying to perform material debrief on a quantity of the item that is available in Onhand quantity, getting the error:

Error: APP-INV-05443 : Negative balances not allowed

1. Login to Oracle Apps.
2. R) Inventory -> On hand: Inv/Sub/Quantity
3. R) Field Service Manager -> Create Service Request -> Task -> Debrief
4. Enter a Install Material debrief line -> With Quantity: 2, Reservation for 2 is created.
5. Enter another Install material debrief line -> With Quantity 1 or 2, get the above mentioned error message.

Scenario :-
Example 1 – Available quantity = 2, debrief line1 = 2, debrief line 2 = 1 qty. – This should have allowed to complete the debrief but this also failed.

• Debrief logic is calculating availability for line 1 = Availability – Reservation. As there are no reservations, the quantity is calculated as 4-0 = 4.
• Debrief logic is calculating availability for the 2nd line as Available quantity – Reservation. 2 quantity reserved. So the faulty calculation is 2 available – 2 reserved = 0. So this will not allow even 1 quantity while 2 is available. – This is incorrect as let’s say if there are 20 quantity and 10 is debriefed, users won’t be able to use remaining 10 as well.

Example 2 – Just to test this double counting theory, another case with 5 quantity was tried. Debrief line 1 = 2, and line 2 is tried with 3,2 and 1 quantity respectively.
• Debrief logic will calculate availability for line 2 = Available – Reservations = 3 Available – 2 reserved = 1 available
• So, it should not allow to debrief 2 or 3 quantity on the 2nd line. – And both errors out
• It should allow to debrief 1 quantity and this works as expected.
