Getting a 'Workflow Error For Contract Xxx For Yyy (nnn USD)' Notification When Signing Approval Request

Information in this document applies to any platform.
Upon approval of a Service Contract, when attempting to sign the approval request, the user gets a notification with the following error.
Workflow error for Contract xxx for yyy (nnn USD)
1. Create a Service Contract.
2. Submit the contract for Approval.
4. On notification window, select the contract and click 'Respond'.
5. On the notification, click on 'Sign'.
6. See the indicated error.
