Symptoms

Problem Statement
The transaction is stuck in ROI (RHI/RTI tables) with the following error intermittently.

Error

RCV_NOT_PO_VEN_SITE
---------
Supplier Site on specified PO (PO SUPPLIER SITE = ) does not match shipment (SHIPMENT SUPPLIER SITE = #####

PO_PDOI_INVALID_UOM_CODE
---------
UNIT OF MEASURE  (VALUE = ) specified is inactive or invalid.

Steps to Reproduce
Unable to reproduce the issue at will but it happens intermittently under the following situations.

  1. RTP (Receiving Transaction Processor) is scheduled to run very frequently.

  2. Add-on program inserts new transactions (TYPE = SHIPMENT or RECEIVE) into ROI (RHI/RTI tables) at random time.

  3. There is no Incompatibility setup between RTP and Add-on program.

So, it happens that new transactions are inserted into ROI during the time when RTP is still running.

  4. Some fields like VENDOR_ID, VENDOR_SITE_ID, UNIT_OF_MEASURE are null in ROI.

See the following behavior when the issue happens

  1. Most transactions are processed successfully.
This means VENDOR_ID, VENDOR_SITE_ID, UNIT_OF_MEASURE are not mandatory fields.

  2. Rarely, some transactions are stuck in ROI with following errors:
    RCV_NOT_PO_VEN_SITE
    ---------
Supplier Site on specified PO (PO SUPPLIER SITE = ) does not match shipment (SHIPMENT SUPPLIER SITE = #####

    PO_PDOI_INVALID_UOM_CODE
    ---------
UNIT OF MEASURE  (VALUE = ) specified is inactive or invalid.

The messages are saying that the error occurs because the corresponding fields are null.

  3. If the stuck transaction is re-submitted separately, RTP is able to process it successfully.
Again, this means VENDOR_ID, VENDOR_SITE_ID, UNIT_OF_MEASURE are not mandatory fields.

It is very possible that other kinds of errors will happen as well if the corresponding fields are null.
