GLXJEENT: Save an Unbalanced Journal, the Rounding Differences Tracking Account is Not Used to Round the Difference (Doc ID 2798754.1)

Last updated on MARCH 06, 2024

Applies to:

Oracle General Ledger - Version 12.0.0 and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.
GLXJEENT

Symptoms

A unbalanced journal (total Debits not equal total Credits) is created in General ledger (GL). The Entered and Accounted currency amounts aggregate balance are not equal by a few cents.
The journal is saved, however the Rounding Differences Tracking Account entered at ledger's level does not balance the journal automatically.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. GL Responsibility > Journals > Enter > Find > Create a Journal
2. Change the journal so that the Accounted Amounts would be off a few cents
3. Save: observe the journal is not automatically balanced even though Rounding Differences Tracking Account (RDTA) is defined in the system

Changes

The Rounding Differences Tracking Account did not exist before. This was newly entered in the system for this rounding purpose exactly.

The RDTA account has been defined at ledger level: GL Responsibility > Accounting Setup Manager > Query for the ledger > Update > Enter the dedicated Rounding Differences Tracking Account > Save.
