Error when updating owner of an instance/serial through Change Owner option with IB Responsibility: You have encountered an unexpected error (NullPointerException from logs) (Doc ID 2851626.1)

Symptoms


When attempting to update the owner of an instance/serial through Change Owner option in IB (Installed Base) responsibility, the following error occurs.



ERROR

You have encountered an unexpected error. Please contact your System Administrator for assistance.

From Logs On Screen (after setting profile option "FND: Diagnostic" to Yes and clicking on "Diagnostics" link):

STEPS

The issue can be reproduced at will with the following steps:

1. Login with IB responsibility.

2. Open Instance/Serial

3. Update the owner of an instance/serial through Change Owner option.
