Symptoms
The company is issuing a final check for a layoff and the last check date is before the actual pay period end date.
Expecting the maximum, $12.00, Hawaii State Disability Insurance (SDI) deduction to be withheld from this final check.
Responsibility - US Super HRMS Manager or equivalent.
1. Pay the employee their regular 80 hour payroll check.
2. See the $12.00 for the Hawaii SDI tax deduction.
3. The employee is in a termination situation where the employer needs to issue an immediate check.
4. They issue a check for the next pay period end date but with a check date before this pay period end date.
5. See the $12.00 Hawaii SDI tax is not deducted for this check.
