Select Available Inventory from Batch Material Transactions Incorrectly Gives Error, "APP-INV-05449: Transaction date cannot be a past date" When Profile "INV: Transaction Date Validation" is Set to "Do not allow date in past period" (Doc ID 2858247.1)

The following issue is seen when the profile INV: Transaction Date Validation set to "Do not allow date in past period".

In an OPM Batch, if the user attempts to access Select Available Inventory from the batch Material Transactions form, and the transaction date on Material Transactions is in the past but within the current period,
the following error occurs.

APP-INV-05449: Transaction date cannot be a past date
The date you have entered cannot be a date in the past.
Please enter a future date or today's date

The system seems to be treating the profile value of "Do not allow date in past period" as if it were "Do not allow past date"

This happens whenever the transaction date would default to a date in the past (for example for an Automatic consumption ingredient when the batch actual start date is an earlier date in the current period), or whenever actually entering a Transaction Date on batch Material Transactions with a date before the current date but within the current period.

If you don't use Select Available Inventory and enter all of the data manually on Material Transactions you are correctly able to transact with a date that is in the past but within the current period.

The customer who reported this noticed this issue after applying patch 32532324:R12.GME.C, which upgraded their version of GMETTMTX.fmb from 12.0.131.12020000.133 to 120.131.12020000.160, but the issue was able to be reproduced on version 12.0.131.12020000.153 as well. So it appears the issue was introduced in a version between 12.0.131.12020000.133 and 12.0.131.12020000.153.


STEPS

The issue can be reproduced at will with the following steps:
1. Make sure profile INV: Transaction Date Validation is set to "Do not allow date in past period"
2. Retrieve a WIP batch with an actual start date in the past (Production Supervisor > Batch Details).
3. Click Transact Material
4. Enter a Transaction Date that is earlier than today but within the current period
or
if the batch actual start date is within the current period and the ingredient Consumption Type is Automatic, you can leave the Transaction Date field blank.
5. Click the Select Available Inventory button.
6. The error displays

Changes

 Customer applied patch 32532324:R12.GME.C, although the issue was apparently introduced in an earlier patch. It is not known exactly which patch introduced this regression.
