Symptoms

EBS Release 12, Accounts must be reviewed and overlapping records between the accounts to be merged must be removed before merging the accounts.  
This would be records associating the FROM account(s) and TO account to one another.

For example , Prior to merging accounts review contacts and relationships. If the accounts are contacts for each other or have relationships between each other, these must be removed (inactivated) from the FROM account prior to executing the merge.
Review contacts that exist on both accounts, if both accounts have the same contact remove that contact from the FROM account.

A review of the accounts to be merged prevents such merge errors as the one that occurred about these relationships existing between the FROM and TO account
