Carriage Return in Text Box in BI Publisher RTF Template Does Not Add a Blank Line in PDF Output (Doc ID 2898299.1)

Symptoms

When creating an RTF template in Word, if a Carriage Return character is entered in a Text Box, it will be displayed correctly in HTML format but it will not be displayed correctly in PDF format.

The issue occurs in both BI Publisher and BI Publisher Desktop.

A blank line should be displayed in the PDF output for the Carriage Return character as it is in the HTML format.

Steps:

  1. In Microsoft Word, create an RTF template
  2. Add a Text Box
  3. Enter text in the above Text Box using Carriage Returns to position the text
  4. Use the RTF template in a BI Publisher report
  5. Verify the Carriage Returns used for positioning are not displayed
