The System Profile "INV: Use Catalog Name In The Item Description" Is Not Working (Doc ID 2906719.1)

Last updated on NOVEMBER 02, 2022

Applies to:

Oracle Product Hub - Version 12.2.4 and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Symptoms

On : 12.2.4 version, Catalog items

ACTUAL BEHAVIOR
---------------
When system Profile "INV: Use catalog name in the item description" is set to "No", then functionality works correctly in EBS Forms but does not work correctly in Product Information Data Librarian.
In Product Data Hub, the description is still getting the item catalog group at the beginning of the item description.

EXPECTED BEHAVIOR
-----------------------
Catalog group name should not get prefixed to item catalog description when it is updated.

STEPS
-----------------------
The issue can be reproduced at will with the following steps:

-- Query any item in Items form
-- (M) Tools > Item Catalog
-- Update any descriptive element - in our case appended some random text 'test' at the end of the first descriptive element
-- Click on Update description button
-- We see the appended text in the item catalog description as expected. No catalog group name got added to item catalog description. This is correct behavior.
-- (N) Development Manager > Catalog Items
-- Query any existing item
-- Click on Item number hyperlink
-- In Item Overview page, click on Descriptive Attributes on the left side panel
-- Update any descriptive element - in our case appended some random text 'test123' at the end of the first descriptive element and click on 'Apply' button
-- Click on 'Refresh' button
-- Now we see the appended text in the item catalog description, this is ok but catalog group name got prefixed to item catalog description. This is incorrect behavior.
