What is the Functionality of Validation of Expiration Date in BPA Lines? (Doc ID 2914734.1)

Last updated on DECEMBER 10, 2024

Applies to:

Oracle Purchasing - Version 12.2.7 and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Goal

What is the functionality of validation of expiration date on BPA lines?

In release 12.1.3 there was no validation of the expiration date on a BPA line.

In release 12.2.7 and later it is observed there is validation of the expiration date on the BPA line. Development added a submission check to validate the line expiration date
against the approved date of the referenced Standard Purchase Order lines. The line expiration date should not be less than the approved date of the referenced Standard Purchase Order lines.

There already existed BPA header effective end date validation and it was required to perform similar validation for BPA lines to provide consistency.

Expected and correct functionality for release 12.2.7 and later is as follows per Bug 32290344:

Steps:
1. Create BPA with line
2. Create SPO referencing that BPA line
3. Approve the PO
4. Query the BPA and update the line expiration date less than approved date of PO
5. Attempt to approve BPA and error is thrown "Please enter an Effective To date that is after the latest approval date of the purchase orders referencing this document Line" OR Error: Line # XX PO_GA_LINE_EFF_DATE

Note that an additional part of the functionality is to also validate only agreement lines which are not 'FINALLY CLOSED as per POXVDCKB.pls and version 120.177.12020000.272

Any time you engage the approval process whether initially or in the case of reapproval it is required to validate the date on the BPA to align with what will be the subsequent approval date. It is not correct to approve (or reapprove) a PO that is referencing an expired BPA date.
