Symptoms
When attempting to approve Requisitions, if the Approver clicked on the Edit Requisition link in the approval notification before clicking approve a workflow error is generated and the Requisition is returned to Incomplete status with an error notification sent

ORA-20001: APP-FND-00588: Program error: An error has occurred while looking up a flexfield segment combination. Please inform your support representative that:
The FND_FLEX_SERVER validation function has encountered a null or negative combination ID (-1) while trying to look up the segment values for this combination. This may indicate an invalid entry in the unique ID column of the combinations table.
STEPS
The issue can be reproduced at will with the following steps:
1. Using iProcurement responsibility (Navigation: iProcurement Home Page > Shop) or using Oracle Purchasing responsibility (Navigation: Requisitions > Requisitions)
2. Create Requisition and submit for approval
3. Approver receives approval notification and opens the notification
4. Approver clicks on the Edit Requisition link to open the Requisition Details
5. The approver can view requisition details or make changes and saves, either option will cause the issue and clicks option to return to the notification
6. Once returned to the notification the approver clicks the Approve button
7. The issue occurs above where the Requisition is returned to Incomplete with above notification and error in the subject of that error notification
Changes
The problem started after profile option "PO:Validate GL Period" was incorrectly set from No to Redefault
