How Can Credit Card Details Be Updated or a New Credit Card Be Added For Billing Plan In Sales Order if Existing Credit Card Expires? (Doc ID 2923318.1)

A billing plan is created for 24 months and the credit card that is currently input in payment terms expires within that 24 month period.
If there is a line that is already invoiced on the sales order then any attempt to update the credit card  or add a new credit card  on the recurring billing plan errors with the following:

Error(s): You are not allowed to delete Order Payment because: At least one order line in the order has been invoiced interface.

How can credit card details be updated or a new credit card be added for recurring billing plan in sales order if existing credit card expires?
