R12: Gather Schema Statistics Program Fails with Error ORA-12899 on Custom Table. (Doc ID 2934828.1)

Symptoms

"Gather Schema Statistics" program (FNDGSCST) fails when the custom table name exceeds 30 Characters.

For example:  Custom table CUSTOM_XXXXXXX_APPROVER_REPORT_TABLE
Table Name is 36 characters long.

"Gather Schema Statistics" request Log file shows the following Error:

Error #1: ERROR: While GATHER_TABLE_STATS: object_name=APPS.CUSTOM_PO_SELF_APPROVER_REPORT_TABLE***ORA-12899: value too large for column "APPLSYS"."FND_STATS_HIST"."OBJECT_NAME" (actual: 36, maximum: 30)***

 

Steps to reproduce:

  1. In the APPS DB schema, create a custom table with a name more than 30 characters long, for example CUSTOM_XXXXXXX_APPROVER_REPORT_TABLE.
  2. Log into Oracle Applications using "System Administrator" responsibility.
  3. Open the "Standard Request Submission" (SRS) screen
    (N) Other > Requests > Run
  4. Find/Execute the "Gather Schema Statistics" program.  For the "Schema Name" parameter, enter APPS
