Mobile Scanner Replaces Barcode Value Randomly With Shift+Char When Scanning A Concatenated Barcode For Subinventory Locator
(Doc ID 2943621.1)
Last updated on APRIL 21, 2023
Applies to:
Oracle Mobile Application Server - Version 12.2.9 and laterInformation in this document applies to any platform.
Symptoms
When scanning a concatenated barcode (for Subinventory+locator , or Item+Revision), randomly one of the characters is replaced by "Shift+Char". Ex: 1 becomes !, 2 becomes @, - becomes _, etc.
Barcodes themselves cannot have shift keys encoded in them, so if it was coming from the scanner, then the scanner itself would have to be inserting them based on a rule defined in the scanner.
The configuration of the scanner is set to the factory default settings and has no custom data format rules defined.
When pasting the scanned value (from scanner) to into notepad or notepad++, shift keys are not inserted.
STEPS
-----------------------
The issue can be reproduced at will with the following steps:
1. MSCA (mobile) > Transactions > Deliver > Enter
2. Scan PO number , Item, Qty , Subinventory, Locator
3. See incorrect character scanned into locator field.
Original text scanned:
Stores:LOC702/1131
Scanned text populated:
Stores:LOC70@?!131
(OR) Stores:LOC702?!!31
-- Sometimes 2 is replaced with Shift+2 ('@') , or sometimes 1 is replaced with Shift+1 ('!') , and this happens randomly.
