Unable To Update Item Description Due to Error "The following validation failed for organization item record: IB_ITEM_TRACKING_LEVEL" (Doc ID 2954393.1)

Symptoms

You attempt to update the item description, the following error is encountered:

Cannot propagate Master controlled attribute value to child organizations.
Cause: The following validation failed for organization item record: IB_ITEM_TRACKING_LEVEL

 
If you try to change the "Level of IB Tracking" item attribute, the following error is encountered:

Install Base Tracking Level can not be updated since Onhand trackable exists.

 
Steps

  1. Navigate: Inventory > Items > Master Items
  2. Query for a item
  3. Try to update the Description field.
  4. Receive the error.
