Symptoms

When attempting to run the XLABAPUB: Update Subledger Accounting Balances request, the following error occurs:

ERROR
-----------------------
An internal error occurred. Please inform your system administrator or support representative that: An internal error has occurred in the program xla_balances_calc_pkg.calculate_balances. Balances are not initialized for the latest open period.

The issue can be reproduced at will with the following steps:
1. Using Payables Manager responsibility

2. Navigate to Other > Requests

3. Click on Single Request

4. Enter Request Name: XLABAPUB: Update Subledger Accounting Balances

5. Enter Parameters

6. Click Ok

7. Click on Submit

Changes

Users accidentally terminated the 'Open Period Balances' request.
