The process of shipping orders and creating install base instances with warranties and/or extended warranties is quite complex and can fail in different stages of the technical flow. Apart from remembering to  enter service items on sales orders for extended warranties, there is not much the end user can do wrong in this process since it all depends on the correct setup.

The purpose of this document is to assist in troubleshoot situations when a contract or warranty is not created. It can also can be to used to troubleshoot similar problems when Sales orders are initiated from Order Management.

Throughout this document, the terms 'extended warranty' and 'service program' are used as alternates for each other. Extended warranties and service programs are services that are purchased with or after the sale of a product. A warranty is a service that is provided when the product is purchased.
