11.5.9/11.5.10 Java mailer: Can't send command to SMTP host;java.net.SocketException: Broken pipe (Doc ID 300141.1)

Symptoms

 

Here are the messages from view log in workflow manager from Oracle Application Manager (OAM).

ception -> javax.mail.MessagingException: Can't send command to SMTP host;
   nested exception is:
 java.net.SocketException: Broken pipe

 

The "test mailer" feature via OAM and that also get error java.net.SocketException: Broken pipe.

Alternatively, one might receive the following error:

 

WFMLRSND_FAILED_EXTERNAL
2021: Could not send notification 294721 (status 'ERROR') to 'HLTMK'

due to: javax.mail.MessagingException: Can't send command to SMTP host;
nested exception is: java.net.SocketException: Connection aborted by peer: socket write error.
