Post Upgrade Instance Rediscovery Via E-Business Suite Cloud Manager Does Not Retain Middleware Licensing Model. (Doc ID 3004600.1)

Symptoms

On : 12.2.13 version, EBS Database Admin

After unregistering the E-Business suite 12.2.13 environment via Cloud Manager to upgrade the operating system (OS) from OEL7 to OEL8. In rediscovering the environment via Cloud Manager post OS upgrade, the licensing model is changed from the Universal Credits-based middleware licensing model (UCM) to the Bring Your Own License (BYOL) licensing model in Cloud Manager. It is expected that the UCM licensing model in place before the OS upgrade be retained when rediscovering the environment via Cloud Manager.

The issue can be reproduced with the following steps:

Upgrade the Database Tier of E-business Suite (12.2.x) environment OS from OEL7 to OEL8 as follows:

1. un-register environment via cloud manager:

a) Click the Navigator icon and select Environments.

b) Navigate to the Environment Details page for the environment that you want to unregister by clicking the environment name link.

c) Click Unregister.

d) The Confirm Unregister window appears. Enter the environment name to confirm your choice. Then click Yes


2. upgrade the OS using the Virtual Machine Database (VMDB) Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) User Interface (UI).


3. rediscover the environment via cloud manager post OS upgrade.

 Affected instance is unregistered, updated and rediscovered via E-Business Suite Cloud Manager.
