How to Reconcile Retained Earnings for Associated Ledgers Having Different Charts of Accounts Where the Balancing Segment Is Not the Same? (Doc ID 3016733.1)

Last updated on APRIL 19, 2024

Applies to:

Oracle General Ledger - Version 12.0.0 and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Goal

For associated ledgers (Primary - Secondary ledgers) where the chart of accounts is different and the Balancing segment is different for each ledger, how is the Retained Earnings reconciled between ledgers?

Example:

the Primary ledger is having segment1 as Balancing segment, the Secondary Ledger is having segment5 as the Balancing one. Retained Earnings balances are created at the beginning of each year and for each ledger the amounts are generated based on the balancing entities.

For the case described, there is no connection between the Retained Earnings in the Primary ledger and the same account of the Secondary ledger.

How to reconcile?
