R12: Currency Name For Peru Is Not Correct: Should be 'Sol' and Not 'Nuevo Sol' for Currency Code 'PEN' (Doc ID 3018137.1)

Symptoms

The currency name for Peru is observed to be 'Nuevo Sol' when it should be 'Sol' for currency code 'PEN'.    This can be verified, for example, from the output of a Withholding Certificate for Peru where the currency name 'Nuevo Sol' is specified.
This is also observable from the FND_CURRENCIES_VL table that shows 'Nuevo Sol' for the Currency Code of 'PEN'.

Steps to Verify

  1. From SQL*Plus (or SQL Developer)
  2. Enter the following query:  
  3. Note the output shows:  'Nuevo Sol' for both Name and Description.

 

Changes

On Dec. 15, 2015, the name of the national currency for Peru was changed from "Nuevo Sol" to "Sol" (Reference: https://www.investopedia.com/terms/p/pen.asp ).
