Error 'VALIDATION FAILED FOR THE FIELD - SHIPPING METHOD' when Creating New Order (Doc ID 301912.1)

Symptoms

 

When attempting to create a new sales order from the Sales Order form, the following error message
appears after entering the Customer Number and tabbing to the Order Type field.

Validation failed for the field - Shipping Method

At this point, the cursor is not even moving to the Order Type field so that the user can continue with creating the sales order.
