Symptoms

Getting Below Error While Updating Item Attribute(serial_number_control_code)from At receipt to Predefined using API ego_item_pub.process_items and mtl_system_items_interface also.

ERROR
-----------------------
 Starting serial number prefix is required
Cause: Starting serial number prefix is required when Serial Number Control = Predefined serial numbers

WHAT IS WORKING
----------------------------
Able to update the serial_number_control_code from At Receipt to Predefined in Oracle Application Without any Issue.


The issue can be reproduced at will with the following steps:
1. Login to instance backend
2. I'nsert records into mtl_system_items_interface
3. Login to Applications and go to Inventory responsibility
4.Run Import Items
