Symptoms

Recently migrated E-Business Suite (EBS) 12.1.3 application from RedHat Linux (RHEL) 6 to RHEL 7.
After the migration, trying to run ad utilities like adadmin/adpatch exists abruptly and fails, after entering the apps and system passwords. The session exists and no logs are generated.

ERROR
---------
Below is the console output and the same is found in adadmin.log

$ adadmin

Filename [adadmin.log] :

AD Administration needs the password for your 'SYSTEM' ORACLE schema
in order to determine your installation configuration.

Enter the password for your 'SYSTEM' ORACLE schema:

The ORACLE username specified below for Application Object Library
uniquely identifies your existing product group: APPLSYS

Enter the ORACLE password of Application Object Library [APPS] :

AD Administration is verifying your username/password. ===> adadmin exists here while validating the password without any error.

From the Output of : $ strace -f adadmin, we can see the below reference to "/etc/nsswitch.conf". No errors.

29301 open("/etc/nsswitch.conf", O_RDONLY|O_CLOEXEC) = 6
29301 fstat64(6, {st_mode=S_IFREG|0644, st_size=1751, ...}) = 0
29301 mmap2(NULL, 4096, PROT_READ|PROT_WRITE, MAP_PRIVATE|MAP_ANONYMOUS, -1, 0) = 0xf7730000
29301 read(6, "#\n# /etc/nsswitch.conf\n#\n# An ex"..., 4096) = 1751
