R12: ECC: Why Are Wildcard (%) Searches in ECC Not Behaving as Observed in Other EBS Applications?
(Doc ID 3046377.1)

Oracle Enterprise Command Center Framework - Version 12.2.9 and laterInformation in this document applies to any platform.
Goal
Why are wildcard (%) searches in Enterprise Command Center (ECC) application not returning expected results?
For example, if entering 'A%', it is expected that only those values that actually begin with 'A' are returned. However, in ECC, when entering 'A%', for say, Suppliers, it will return all suppliers beginning with 'A' but also all suppliers that have 'A' that begin a new word of that supplier name.
To illustrate: 'Bank of America' begins with 'B', but also has an 'A' word that begins a new word. Therefore, this value is returned when entering 'A%' in an ECC wildcard search.
Entering, AN% would return 'SUMIT ANAND' (has a separate word/name that begins 'AN'), but would not, as expected, return 'Bank of America' (has an 'an' imbedded).
Entering an 'A%' in a wildcard search from other EBS applications would not return 'Bank of America' (but 'B%', of course, would).
