Capturing Counter Readings errors with APP-FND-01934 and ORA-00938 on Computing Formula Counters (Doc ID 304931.1)

Oracle Installed Base - Version 11.5.9 and later
Oracle Service Contracts - Version 11.5.1 to 11.5.10.2 [Release 11.5]
Oracle Field Service - Version 11.5.1 to 11.5.10.2 [Release 11.5]

Symptoms

1. In Service Contracts query a Service Agreement
2. Go to Lines --> Counters Tab
3. Enter Counter Capture
4. Enter new reading on Regular Counters and save
5. Get Error Message

'APP-FND-01934: ORA-00938: Not enough arguments for function in Package CS_CTR_CAPTURE_READING_PVT Procedure POST_CAPTURE_COUNTER_READING'

or

APP-FND-01934 ORA-00939 too many arguments for function in Package    CS_CTR_CAPTURE_READING_PVT Procedure POST_CAPTURE_COUNTER_READING"

The same error occurs when updating counter readings directly in Install Base or through Field Service Debrief

Changes

Setup for counters:

(R) Field Service Manager
(N) field service setup / counters / define counters
1. Create a new counter group

2. Entered the following counters:
Counter1 -> regular counter
Counter2 -> regular counter
Counter6 -> formula counter
the formula is: :A4+A3
-> press Formula Ref: button and enter:
- A3 maps to Counter1
- A4 maps to Counter2
Counter7 -> regurlar counter
Counter8 -> Formula counter
the formula is: decode(sign(:A4+(2*:A3))-:ATOTAL), -1, 0, ((:A4+(2*:A3))-:ATOTAL)
-> press Formula Ref: button and enter:
- A3 maps to Counter1
- A4 maps to Counter2
- TOTAL maps to jgcounter7

3. Associate an IB trackable item with the counter group

4. In install base, enter a new instance for that item and counters are attached
- move to Counters, enter value for counter1, counter2 and counter7, then hit Update
- get error:
Error ORA-00938: not enough arguments for function in Package
CS_CTR_CAPTURE_READING_PVT Procedure POST_CAPTURE_COUNTER_READING
