E-BI Publisher: BI Publisher JDBC Data Source Test Connection Fails with Message The Network Adapter could not establish the connection (Doc ID 3055475.1)

Symptoms

When trying to create a JDBC Datasource to an Oracle RAC database, the test connection fails with message:

Could not establish connection. java.sql.SQLRecoverableException: IO Error: The Network Adapter could not establish the connection 

This issue may be replicated using below steps:

  1. Login to XMLPServer url
  2. Click on Administration 
  3. Goto Data Sources>>JDBC Connection
  4. Click on Add Datasource
  5. Specify the required parameters such as 'Data Source Name', 'Driver Type', 'Database Driver Class', 'Connection String', 'Username' and 'Password'
  6. Click on Test Connection
  7. Notice the error
