Oracle® e-Commerce Gateway Implementation Guide 12.2

Section ; Define Database Directories
--------------------------------------------------
Note: This section does not apply when the "ECE File Location" profile value is set to "Application File System".

To use Oracle e-Commerce Gateway, you must first define database directories where data files for both inbound and outbound transactions are stored. Oracle e-Commerce Gateway uses the UTL_FILE package to read and write the ASCII transaction interface flat files on the server. UTL_FILE can only write to accessible directories.

The Database Administrator (DBA) should define database directory objects for use of Oracle E-Commerce Gateway. See My Oracle Support Knowledge Document 2525754.1, Using UTL_FILE_DIR or Database Directories for PL/SQL File I/O in Oracle E-Business Suite Releases 12.1 and 12.2.

After defining the database directories, you need to specify those directory paths in the "ECE: Inbound File Path", "ECE: Outbound File Path", and "ECE File Location" profile options.
For more information about these profile options, refer to Set Up Profiles.

"NOTE;
  ECE_FILE_LOCATION
    Note: This profile option is available only if your Oracle E-Business Suite environment is Release 12.2.12 or if you have applied Patch 33736406:R12.EC.C or the Consolidated Physical File System Access Restriction Patch 33649463:12.2.0.
