Install Base Change of Ownership is Not Updating Service Contracts (Doc ID 3070219.1)

Last updated on JANUARY 31, 2025

Applies to:

Oracle Service Contracts - Version 12.2 and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Symptoms

The Change of Ownership for Item Instances in the Installed Base is not working as expected. When an Item Instance is transferred to another customer in the Installed Base, if the equipment is still under Warranty, the system should terminate the original Warranty contract and create a new Warranty contract for the duration of the original Warranty term. The above-mentioned functionality is not working; the old service contract is not getting terminated and new one is not created.

STEPS
1. Using the Oracle Installed Base Agent User, navigate: Item Instance > Item Instances.
2. Query up an Item Instance with a Warranty.
3. Select the "Instance Update" icon.
4. On the Item Instance page, click the "Change Owner" button.
5. Updated the owner information to a new owner.
6. Click Apply.
7. The Warranty contracts to be impacted will display.
8. Click Apply.
9. Find the Subline on the Warranty contract was not terminated and no new Warranty was created for the new owner.
