Oracle Project Costing - Version 12.2.3 and laterInformation in this document applies to any platform.
Symptoms
Users had the following scenario:
Asset A was placed in service in September 2023. Asset B was inadvertently placed in-serviced as a 'child of' asset A in April 2024, when it should have been in-serviced as a second separate asset with a different serial number. Asset C was created on the Fixed Assets (FA) side as a zero cost asset through quick additions. The money was transferred from that child asset B to asset C in Fixed Assets. Asset B was then retired. Since Asset C was not created on the project side, it does not show in Projects. If you enter the project number in the asset workbench, the new asset number C will be included because it was linked to the project when the money from the child was transferred to it; however, that transaction and the retirement of the child asset broke the link between the tasks and the project. So now, no monies in Construction in Progress (CIP) can be attached to asset C as it was not created on the project side. Several attempts have been made to cost adjust the current balance in CIP ; however, that is not possible since the link has been broken.
