Applies to:
BI Publisher (formerly XML Publisher) - Version 12c to 5.6.3 [Release 12.0 to 5]Information in this document applies to any platform.
Symptoms
When BI Publisher jobs are run where the datamodel is connected to an Analysis Report on OAS, it has been noted significant performance degradation compared to OBIEE 12.2.1.4
Steps:
1. Perform the upgrade from OBIEE 12.2.1.4 to OAS 6.4.
2. In OAS, schedule any BIP job where the datamodel of the report is connected to an Analysis Report.
(Navigation: From the Catalog Folders, click Schedule option under the report you want to schedule and submit a new job)
The exact same report behaves differently in OBIEE and OAS:
OBIEE -> [240618_08450025][dp id:368710604][sch info:JobId:614094[ESS RequestId:null]]Total Data Generation Time: 7.000 seconds
OAS -> [2024-06-18T20:41:55.103+00:00][dp id:1930862515][sch info:JobId:1010[ESS RequestId:null]]Total Data Generation Time: 26.000 seconds
In the diagnostic logs for the BIP report, it is shown that significant time is spent on getting the data and also in OEM is noted that the same query is executed multiple times in the database.
