Does Oracle have the functionality to validate Social Security Numbers with the Social Security Administration (SSA)
As of 2004, the Social Security Administration (SSA) offers employers a free service to verify that the employee name/social security number that will be reported on W-2's match records at SSA. SSA has recently announced that they will be lowering their tolerance for such mismatches and will eventually reject any single W-2 with a mismatch (currently they allow up to 40% mismatches before rejecting any records). Penalties for employers are $50 for each mismatch. We should consider adding Electronic Verification Services (EVS) capability to our product for our users. EVS can be submitted on paper, diskette and magnetic tape. The Social Security Administration (SSA) will ultimately also offer EVS via electronic transmission.
