Symptoms

The BI Publisher (formerly XML Publisher) report opens in PDF and HTML formats, but the output does not open for EXCEL.

The browser page displays:

"Microsoft Excel
File cannot be opened because: Invalid at the top level of the document.
Line 1, Position 1.
Authentication failed."
