This note is for information purposes only.
Under no circumstances must the files under the Global or Local inventory be amended manually. Only Oracle Utilities such as Oracle Universal Installer (OUI), Rapid Install (rapidwiz), Opatch, RapidClone and perl scripts such as OUIsetup.pl are used to update the Global or Local Inventory.
Making manual changes may corrupt the inventory. Any upgrades to the ORACLE_HOME will not be possible if this occurs. This could result in having to reinstall the ORACLE_HOME, and re-applying all patchsets or patches.
This note is intended for all Oracle Applications 11i DBAs
