Installed Base Error When Updating System with Cascade to Children Enabled (Doc ID 361743.1)

When attempting to update system details with cascade to children box enabled the following error occurs.

The Instance has a Parent associated to it in the component of relationship. Location attributes update is not allowed for this Instance. Changing the location attributes for Parent, will automatically update its corresponding child components.

  1. Create a system as Installed Base Use (Systems tab) and assign the system to a new instance when creating it (in the Products tab)
  2. Search the System (in the Systems tab - use the saved searches or create a new 'saved search' to search for systems), select and update e.g. the Party name, Effective date and Installed at address of the system
  3. Make sure to check the cascade to children box and save
