Goal

What are some quick checks that can be performed to determine if the REP-3000 is due to configuration problems within Oracle Applications or within the third party display server or VNC product?

Note:  The DISPLAY variable needs to point to a Host Name / IP address where an active display server process reside, preferably on the same E-Business Suite server where the concurrent manager reside or an external server or PC; otherwise, bitmap request processing will encounter a REP-3000 error message.

"Setting the DISPLAY to a valid X Window session is a REQUIREMENT and has always been a requirement. It is NOT a bug. It provides a fundamental capability that Reports requires for font metrics and rasterization, image manipulation and conversion, etc."

Note 1:  From the Oracle Applications point of view, there is not much that needs to be done: set and export the DISPLAY environment variable in the appropriate file(s) and bounce the corresponding Apps servers.

If problems are encountered with configuring or starting an display display server, window manager, or VNC product, please contact the third party vendor for assistance on testing and/or setting up the specific third party product in use.

Goal
Solution
 1.  Ensure the correct DISPLAY environment variable is set on the E-Business server(s).
 2. Invoke or re-invoke the xhost command as root.
 3. As the "root" user, bounce (restart) the  display server and/or any required window manager (i.e. mwm, olwm, fvwm, twm, etc.) associated with the display server or window system.
 4. Validate that the Concurrent Processing Server sees the correct DISPLAY value.
 5. Verify that the DISPLAY variable is usable by running a concurrent report in Postscript format.
 6. If bitmap (Postscript, PDF, etc) reports fail from within Oracle Applications, does a report in Postscript format run successfully from the OS command line?
 7. Bitmap reports fail with REP-3000 from Oracle Applications or from the OS command line, the cause may be that the display server and/or window manager is not accessible, usable, or started.
 8. The generic_service environment variable: s_display may not be set correctly.
 9. HP-UX PA-RISC: REP-3000: Internal Error Starting Oracle Toolkit
 10. $DISPLAY is correct, but still has REP-3000 Internal Error on AIX Servers
 11. Reports Fail With REP-0004 REP-3000 REP-0069 REP-57054 On a Cloned R12 (12.0.4) Instance
 12. REP-3000 When Character Set is NOT UTF8
 13. After Upgrade to R 12.1.2 Running Any PDF Reports: Get: REP-3000,REP-0069 and REP-57054
