11i: Servlet and JSP Pages return a "Page Not Found" Error After Install of Applications (Doc ID 372096.1)

Symptoms

After installation of Oracle Applications 11i,  a "Page Not Found" error (HTTP-404) is displayed in the browser when calling any servlet or JSP page

For example the URL http://myhostname.mydomain:port/servlets/Hello  returns the following response:

Not Found
The requested URL /servlets/Hello was not found on this server

The access_log also reports a Page Not Found response on the above request

<client-ip>- - [..] "GET /servlets/Hello HTTP/1.1" 404 220

Static HTML pages are rendered correctly, indictating Apache listener itself is able to respond to requests correctly

Changes

This may happen after completing an new eBiz 11i installation or after making changes in the network setup
