How to Bill for a Service as it is Consumed Rather than Equal Monthly Amount (Doc ID 397282.1)

Last updated on AUGUST 14, 2021

Applies to:

Oracle Service Contracts - Version 11.5.10.2 and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Goal

Many users of Service Contracts have requirements to bill for Service as it is consumed rather than some regular monthly fee.  The actual specifics of the requirements will vary, but in general the basic requirements are:

1. The customer is buying a block of Service, for example 40 hours of on-site work.
2. The customer must be billed, and revenue recognized, as the Service is consumed.
3. When the amount of Service consumed is nearing the amount purchased (30 of the 40 hours have been consumed), someone should be notified so that negotiations for a new Contract can begin.
