How to change default product display template? (Doc ID 402220.1)

Currently, default product display template is "product details with image". Need is that default template to be changed to "product basic information with image".
This can be done by manually changing the template on each and every product selectively which needs lot of overhead. How to make a particular product display template as a default for existing and as well for future products that will be added to existing and new sections?
